SPECIAL GUEST PRESENTER: ALONZO JOHNSON

In our continuing series highlighting the three focus areas of the Matthew 25 initiative, we welcomed our special speaker, Rev. Dr. Alonzo T. Johnson, of the Presbyterian Mission Agency. His presentation focused on addressing the root causes of poverty. Small group discussions followed.

Rev. Dr. Johnson is the Coordinator for the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People Program (SDOP). He has 25 years of experience in urban, congregational based organizing, youth/education, creative arts, peacemaking, anti-racism, anti-poverty, anti-violence and social justice ministries. Rev. Johnson was pastor at an urban congregation in Philadelphia for almost 12 years and has worked as a volunteer chaplain in prison ministry for 9. He is also the Convener for the PCUSA’s Educate a Child Initiative.
