Get involved in the work of Blackhawk Presbytery!

The Presbyterian Church (USA) Book of Order defines a presbytery as "a corporate expression of the church. . .that is responsible for the mission and government of the church throughout its geographical district."

Blackhawk Presbytery consists of minister members and congregations, and is supported in its work by the General Presbyter/Stated Clerk, Treasurer, and other staff. It is the minister members, elder commissioners from each congregation to presbytery meetings, and leaders and members of our commissions, boards, and committees who guide the decisions and work of the presbytery.

So, we—minister members and members of our 79 congregations—are Blackhawk Presbytery. Our focus is on supporting our congregations to be thriving faith communities by providing competent pastoral leadership, resourcing to energize ministry, and developing networks and partnerships of Presbyterians.

We value being a missional presbytery.

To be missional is to align all of the program, function and activities of the presbytery around the mission of God in the world.

To be a missional presbytery means to discern how this particular presbytery's calling is aligned with God’s mission in the world.

To be a missional presbytery means to orient all of the life of the presbytery around God’s mission.
